A Child Accident Prevention Program
This program introduces safety awareness and prevention to pre-kindergarten age children.
The Elk Grove Police Department is proud to present Safety Town for children entering kindergarten. Safety Town is an incredible educational program that will introduce preschool (4-5 years old) children to safety awareness.
This nationally certified and accredited program emphasizes pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, school bus safety, personal safety, poison prevention, basic fire prevention, car passenger safety, water safety, animal safety, safe touch, and various other safety issues. Safety Town students will have an opportunity to explore a fire truck, a police car, a school bus, and learn many valuable topics as they prepare to enter school. Each child will receive a t-shirt to wear for their graduation ceremony.
Safety Town will be during July 24th – July 28th. The session will be Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Safety Town will be at an elementary school in Elk Grove.

Enrollment is limited to 40 children per session. Acceptance into the program will be on a first come, first served basis. Registration is $25 to help cover some of the costs associated with the program. Payments can be made via credit card at the time of enrollment.
Parents/guardians will be notified by email as to the status of their child's registration, within approximately 10 days from receipt of the registration form. Teen Volunteers
We are also looking for teenage volunteers (age 13-17) who would like to help out. The teens will act as a mentor for the young scholars, assisting on craft projects, helping them learn rules of pedestrian and vehicles in the Safety Town, ensuring they get to classes on time, and so forth. We are glad to sign off on community service hours for the teen volunteers. Volunteer applications are due by July 10th.
