A Child Accident Prevention Program

ELK GROVE, CA – As part of a continuing effort to promote youth safety, the Elk Grove Police Department is pleased to announce that Safety Town is coming back on July 18th at District 56 (8230 Civic Center Drive).  Safety Town is an exciting comprehensive educational program that introduces 5-year-olds to safety awareness. This program, which has been nationally recognized, teaches children entering kindergarten in the fall basic safety awareness and accident prevention through hands-on learning activities.

These basic safety awareness lessons will cover topics such as pedestrian and bicycle safety, school bus safety, poison prevention, basic fire prevention and home and water safety.  All information is presented in age-appropriate fashion through song and hands-on activities. Safety Town students will also have an opportunity to explore a fire truck, police car, and a school bus.  In addition, all students will receive a t-shirt for their participation in the program.

“The safety of our children is a top priority and having an opportunity to reinforce the basic safety awareness that children are already receiving at home is key.” said Elk Grove Police Chief Bobby Davis.

The registration fee for the program is $25.00 and enrollment is limited to 40 children.  Participants will attend 2½ hours a day from July 18th through July 22nd.  Acceptance into the program will be on a first come, first serve basis.  City of Elk Grove residents will be given priority.  For additional information, please visit elkgrovepd.org/safetytown
