Elk Grove Police Department Volunteers

 

The Elk Grove Police Department's Volunteers are an important part of the team and we are truly grateful for all of their devoted service.  Our Volunteers allow us to provide an even higher level of prompt, courteous to all the citizens of Elk Grove.

Applicants must be 18 years old, unless specified. All applicants must pass a background check. A record of criminal misdemeanors and/or felony violations or other infractions of the law may be disqualifying. We request a commitment of a minimum of 4 hours per week. 

Our Volunteers are currently participating in the following programs:

• Community Partnerships - Neighborhood Crime Watch, Business Crime Watch, Special Events, Community Emergency Response Team

• Investigations - Missing persons follow up, special projects, graffiti abatement

• Records - Clerical, computer data entry for the Traffic and Crime Analysis Units

• Clerical Support - Computer data entry in Traffic, Crime Analysis and Investigations

• Reserve Officers - We are in the process of developing a Reserve Officer program and will post information as soon as it is available.

• Service Center - Customer Service, including citizen walk in and phone contact, prepare crime reports, fingerprinting and community events

• Volunteer Patrol - Vacations checks, illegal sign abatement and directed patrol requests

We are constantly looking to expand our Volunteers Services and hope to add new programs in the near future.

If you are interested in becoming a civilian volunteer with the Elk Grove Police Department, we have a variety of assignments where you can really make a difference!
