Effective December 1, 2006, the Elk Grove Police Department began tracking and billing for false alarms. Each year, alarm users are allowed two (2) free false alarms, with each false alarm thereafter alarm users will be billed consecutively.
Failure to transfer your Alarm Permit from the County of Sacramento to the City of Elk Grove could result in an interruption of service to your alarm and could result in a re-application fee of $50.
New Alarm Permits must be filed with the Police Department within 15 days of installation/activation. Anyone with an alarm system in their home or business, whether it is monitored by an alarm company or "self" monitored, is required to have a valid Alarm Permit.
The Alarm Bureau will renew Alarm Permits every three(3) years. There will be no renewal fee as long as the permit is renewed prior to it's expiration date. The alarm user will receive expiration notification in time for renewal.
