Former School District Employee Arrested for Touching and Communicating with Sexual Intent

David Martinez Jr, a former campus supervisor at an elementary school is in custody for touching a minor with sexual intent and communicating inappropriately with an 11-year-old.

Elk Grove Unified School District officials were informed of the allegations after the student reported them to a school staff member at Helen Carr Castello Elementary School. Subsequently, the District promptly notified the Elk Grove Police Department of the allegation. In immediate response, District officials placed the 49-year-old Martinez on administrative leave. To uphold the integrity of the investigation, and due to the nature of the case, detectives requested that the Elk Grove Unified School District withhold the release of any information until the investigation concluded.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that Martinez, who was employed by the school district at the time of the communication which was sexual in nature to the 11-year-old victim. In addition, Martinez touched the 11-year-old with sexual intent. Based on the findings of the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Martinez.

On April 15, 2024, Martinez turned himself in at the Sacramento County Main Jail where he is currently being held on a bail of $200,000 for Penal Code Sections 288(a) Lewd and Lascivious Act with a Child Under 14 years old and 288.3 Communicate with a Minor with Intent to Commit Sex Offense.
