What are the department's hours?

Officers work 24 hours a day. If you need an officer dispatched for an emergency, dial
9-1-1. If you have a non-emergency, call (916) 714-5115.

Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

What are your phone and fax numbers?

How do I get in touch with a particular officer?

We have a Staff Directory listing all members of the department. Click here. If you are unsure of the officer's name, you may call our Administrative Division during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and they will assist you.


How do I get an officer dispatched?

In an emergency, dial 9-1-1 or (916) 714-5111 from your cell phone.

If you are reporting an non-emergency, dial (916) 714-5115. Please be patient when you call. The dispatchers are answering calls, both emergency and non-emergency for all of Sacramento County. If you think you will get faster service by hanging up and calling 9-1-1, you are incorrect. If you do not have an emergency, the dispatcher will disconnect and you will have lost your place in line when you call back.

How many people work for the police department?

As of 7/01/06 we will have 112 sworn officers and 50 professional staff.

Do you do LiveScan fingerprinting and how much does it cost?

Yes, but an appointment is required. To make an appointment, please call (916) 478-8009, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. View for more detailed LiveScan information.

There is a $12.00 fee for completing the fingerprinting. There may be additional fees required by the State of California or the FBI. When you call, we can advise you of the costs. Fees may be paid by cash, check, Visa or Master Card.


How can I find out if I have a warrant?

Warrant information is never given out over the phone. In order to check for a warrant, you need to go to either the Sacramento Sheriff's Department Warrant Bureau at 711 G St or the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center at 12500 Bruceville Road.


How can I find out if someone is in custody?

You may call either Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center at (916) 874-1927 or the Sacramento County Jail at (916) 874-6752.

How do I get an alarm permit?
