Are you between the ages of 14 and 21? Are you interested in exploring a career in law enforcement? Are you looking for an opportunity to develop new and exciting skills?
If you answered yes to these questions, then the Elk Grove Police Department has an exciting opportunity for you. The Elk Grove Police Department is looking for qualified young adults to participate in the Elk Grove Police Department Explorer Program. The Explorer program is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America and is designed to give students a working knowledge of how police function within the community. Currently Accepting Applications
The Elk Grove Police Department is currently accepting applications for the Explorer Cadet Program.
Law Enforcement Exploring is a “special interest” program chartered by the Boy Scouts of America under the “Learning for Life” division. The Explorer Program is designed to give the student a working knowledge of the police function within the community, as well as being of service to the Police Department.
|Age:||Must be at least 14 years of age (graduated from middle school or junior high) and under the age of 21.|
|Physical Requirements:||Must be in good health. (The City of Elk Grove does not discriminate against anyone based on race, religion, color, sex, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, marital status, political affiliation, or disability).|
|Residency:||Must live within the city limits of Elk Grove, the area serviced by the Elk Grove Unified School District, or be a child/dependent of an Elk Grove Police Department employee.|
|Academic Standing:||Must maintain a “C” average in all school work (2.0 GPA and no “F’s”).|

Requirements for an Explorer
Volunteer a minimum of 16 hours per calendar month. Must conform with Elk Grove Police Department and Police Explorer rules and regulations.
Attend two mandatory Explorer meetings per month. Be available for special events as needed.
Office work as needed.
Traffic control at city events such as parades, DUI Checkpoints, and other city events.
Work in specialized areas such as Records, Communications, Detectives and Crime Scene Investigation upon completion of training.
Ride along with patrol officers.
The Elk Grove Police Explorer Program is strictly voluntary, and, as such, is not subject to financial compensation.
Applications can be picked up at the Police Service Center or downloaded below.
Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in interviews which will be held on a quarterly basis.
