Paws on Patrol

Elk Grove Police Department (EGPD) is harnessing the power of local pet owners through a new community watch program called Paws on Patrol. EGPD Officers want to connect with the hundreds, if not thousands, of dog walkers in Elk Grove to help sniff out suspicious activity.

Based on the success of our Neighborhood Watch Program, this program relies on residents who may be more familiar with their neighborhoods than their beat officer to be an extra set of eyes, ears, and paws in fighting crime.  The ultimate goal of the program is discouraging crime before it happens.

Paws on Patrol requires no extra commitment beyond an individual’s regular walking schedule.  Our next Paws on Patrol meeting will be on Thursday, April 27, at 6 PM, at the Elk Grove City Council Chambers (inside the EGPD, at 8400 Laguna Palms Way). At this meeting we will give a brief recap of Paws on Patrol for any new members, then feature a presentation by an Animal Services Officer on Doggy First Aid. This is a great class on what to do if your pooch runs into any problems. It is free to attend, and you do not need to RSVP. For additional information, please email or call (916) 478-8122.
