EGPD Increases Patrols for Holiday Season

Beginning November 23rd and continuing until December 24th, the Elk Grove Police Department will be increasing the number of officers on patrol in local shopping centers. The increased police presence will allow officers to focus on suspicious activity occurring in and around shopping centers, which historically have experienced a seasonal increase in criminal activity. Read More

EGPD Receives Grant For Special Traffic Enforcement and Crash Prevention

The Elk Grove Police Department (EGPD) has been awarded a $220,000.00 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a year-long program of special enforcements and public awareness efforts to prevent traffic related deaths and injuries. EGPD will use the funding as part of the city’s ongoing commitment to keep our roadways safe and improve the quality of life through both enforcement and education.  Read More

Child Passenger Safety Week

Every day in America, too many children ride in car seats that have been installed incorrectly, or are riding in the wrong car seats for their ages and sizes. Even worse, many other children ride while completely unbuckled. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), two out of three car seats are improperly installed or misused. To help combat this issue, Elk Grove PD and NHTSA are sponsoring Child Passenger Safety Week from September 17-23, 2017, a campaign dedicated to helping parents, grandparents and caregivers make sure their children ride as safely as possible - every trip, every time.  Read More

Walgreens Pharmacy Robbery

On September 6, 2017, at 12:10 p.m., the suspects (pictured below) entered Walgreens and made their way to the pharmacy area located at the rear of the store. Both suspects jumped over the counter and confronted the employees who were working in the pharmacy. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of medication from the pharmacy then fled the store on foot. The suspects were last seen running towards a nearby apartment complex. Responding officers were on scene within two minutes of the call and established a perimeter. After an extensive search, the suspects were not located.  Read More

Residential Robbery Suspect Sought

On August 16, 2017, at approximately 6:30a.m., the suspect (pictured below) entered a residence located on Hawley Way through an open garage door. Once inside the residence, the unidentified suspect took personal property from a nearby counter located in the kitchen. The homeowner was inside the residence during the robbery and confronted the suspect. When the suspect was confronted, he walked past the homeowner and grabbed additional property. The suspect then exited the residence and fled in an unknown direction.  Read More
